No Rogue Trader Zone

PCSO Matt Havelock and colleagues delivered ‘No Rogue Trader Zone’ surveys and letters from Warwickshire Trading Standards. Police are taking this action after a local pensioner was a victim of a rogue trader.
Each property in a new ‘No Rogue Trader Zone’ will be issued with a ‘No Rogue Trader’ door/window sticker and information booklet following the theme of staying safe from cowboy traders. Street signage will reinforce the ‘No Rogue Trader’ message and act as a warning to rogue traders that they will be reported if they attempt to trade in the area.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to Warwickshire Trading Standards Rapid Response Team via the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
Trading Standards Officers will reply either in person or by phone to a report of a suspicious caller in the area.
Please don’t forget to send your survey back in the pre paid envelope provided. They need at least 50% of survey replies back in order to help make our village a ‘No Rogue Trader Zone’.

Prologis Park Ryton – Liaison Summary Report

Litter – A423 Oxford Road.

Cllr Rod Clarke (Ryton Parish Council) and Cllr Dale Keeling (Rugby Borough Council) contacted Ian Castledine our Prologis Liaison about the recent ‘litter pick’ they undertook in the vicinity of the A45 exit and the roundabout at the UK Mail site entrance. Consensus view is that litter is a longstanding issue on Oxford Road, and on A45. The roundabout seems to attract more than its fair share, possibly because passing drivers feel there is less chance of being observed, and vehicle speeds are lower. Lorries travelling to Bubbenhall tip, are also believed to be a major source of windblown litter en route.
Since the matter was first reported late last week, UK Mail have advised that they are arranging for at least two large waste bins to be located at their site entrance. These will provide an opportunity for tidy disposal of potential litter by persons entering and leaving site.
Appreciation expressed to UK Mail for their quick and positive contribution to maintaining the local environment.

Barn Fire – Ryton Fields Farm, Wolston Lane

At 7:04pm on Friday 1st May calls started to pour into the fire service reporting a fire in or near Ryton-on-Dunsmore.
The thick black smoke was clearly visible by many in the village. The smoke could clearly be seen before 7:30pm from Holly Drive as well being able to hear multiple sirens from attending fire engines (pictured right).
The fire was a large barn at Ryton Fields Farm on Wolston Lane, containing hay and agricultural machinery. Fire engines were despatched from Fire Services in Leamington, Rugby and Southam as well as from further afield in Kenilworth, Atherstone, Coleshill and West Midlands. At the height of the fire there were 6 fire engines in attendance.
Fire crews were in attendance all night to ensure the fire was contained. It is believed that there were no injuries.
