Ryton-on-Dunsmore is a village situated in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside between Coventry, Rugby and Royal Leamington Spa. It is very conveniently located for commuting to the nearby towns and cities as the A45 dual carriageway is on the doorstep.

The 2011 census shows Ryton is home to approximately 1,813 people with 728 households. It is perhaps best known historically as the home of the Peugeot Factory. Peugeot closed operations at the site and the factory was demolished in 2007. There is now new development, by ProLogis, on-going on the site, which will hopefully stimulate new jobs and attract new recruits to help rejuvenate the village. For more information on this new site and to see photographs of the site throughout its development see ProLogis Park Ryton website.

What’s Here?

Ryton has everything you would expect and need in a village as well as some useful extras. Everything you need is within easy reach. This page aims to give a brief introduction to some of these excellent facilities and features. If you can think of anything we’ve missed off that would help fellow villagers, please contact us.

Community Activities

One of the best things about the village is the great community spirit, with the Village Hall, School and Church at the centre of activities including many Clubs & Groups. There are also a great many Green Spaces in and around the village.

In 2011 / 12 the Parish Council commissioned a questionnaire, which was distributed to all households. The results (Parish Plan Report) provided the basis of our Parish Plan.

Ryton Gardens

Ryton Gardens, the UK’s leading organic growing charity, has a 10-acre (40,000 m²) demonstration garden dedicated to organic gardening in the village. You can relax and walk around the beautiful gardens, have lunch in the award winning café or visit the shop which has a great selection of plants and gardening essentials, as well as a large choice of organic food, wine groceries and gifts.

Pubs, Shops and Services

Ryton has a very well equipped Co-operative convenience store, including a 24/7 free cashpoint machine, which is situated on the junction of High Street and Warren Field Road.

Ryton also has a hairdressers, two pubs, Chinese take away, post office (part-time within Village Hall) and friendly taxi firm. You will find details for these and other businesses in our Village Directory.
