The Service is on Sunday 11th November and will begin at 10.10am in St Leonards Church.
Following the service after a short walk through the subway the act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial beginning at 10.55am.
The free family fun continues this weekend in Ryton on Dunsmore. The re-enactors help us to meet a World War one cavalryman as they prepare for battle. Learn some of the skill needed for fighting on horseback!
The Warwickshire Regiment 1914-1918 Living History Group portray a regular infantry soldier.
The fun is still continuing today on the field next to the church.

Firstly, the churchyard tidy up team is desperate for willing hands to help maintain the beautiful space that surrounds your beautiful church. They meet on the first and third Saturday mornings of each month. If you can spare an hour or two then please be in touch with the Rector or just turn up and introduce yourself to the other volunteers. They break around 11 am and go into the church centre for a hot drink and snacks.
The other thing that needs to be said is that there are a growing number of graves with extra (unauthorized) items or ornaments and so we have been looking in detail at the Churchyard Regulations of Coventry Diocese, which the Parochial Church Council (PCC) is legally obliged to follow.
There are more details on the church notice boards, but the nub of the matter is that many of the stone, concrete, metal, plaster and plastic vases and flower holders, as well as model people, animals or toys, windmills or jangling trinkets designed to make a noise when the wind blows are not allowed by the regulations. In
addition artificial flowers are not allowed except for Remembrance Day poppies and traditional Christmas wreaths and these should be removed after two of months.
The church is encouraged by the Diocesan authorities to look after the churchyard and to remove unsightly flowers from any grave, as well as other objects and items that fall outside what can be
allowed. We hope that you will co-operate with us in trying to keep our churchyard a tidy and peaceful place and if you seek guidance regarding the graves you tend, please speak to the Rector, or Churchwardens.
Lent appeal in aid of Toilet Twinning.
St Leonard’s PCC has decided to send the proceeds from our Lent Jars collection this year to the charity Toilet Twinning. This brilliant scheme provides safe toilets for communities that at present have none. The possibility to go to the toilet privately and safely is important for everyone, but women and girls are especially endangered when they have no safe and private facilities. Not only that, but providing toilet facilities is an important way to fight against disease, notably dysentery and cholera, and thus
benefits whole communities.
The idea is to twin our lovely hygienic toilets at St. Leonard’s with a lavatory block to be built in a community that at present does not have such a facility. If we succeed in raising enough money, we will get in return a certificate to display in our loos stating that we are twinned with a specific toilet facility in Africa or Asia.

If you want to join us in our Church Lent collection, please take a jar or Gift-Aid envelope from church (or use a jam jar from home) to collect the money you save from the things (chocolate, gin??) you have given up for Lent. Please bring your jar, envelope, and fund-raising proceeds to church at or after Easter.

This year’s church fête is on Saturday 25th June on the recreation with events starting at 9:30am with the football competition, with the fête starting at 12 midday, culminating with the community gathering from 6pm to 10pm.

The fête opens at 12 midday, running through to 5pm. Come along and enjoy the food, drink and stalls, such as Games, Raffles, Cupcake Bake-Off, BBQ, Cream Teas, Maypole Dancing, Bouncy Castle & Slide, Jimbo Children’s Entertainer, Brass Band, Cake Stall, Bar plus more…in the late afternoon there will be a mini disco.
Fête CONGA Tent
St Leonard’s Fete will be on the 25th June this year and we need your help.If you can spare a small amount of time on the day or, if not on the day, perhaps in the preparation leading up to the day, then your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
We need helpers on the day in most areas, but specifically this year we are looking for some additional people to help with the bouncy castle. We have established that we need at least 2 teams of 2 people, working in hour long shifts, from 11am through to around 4:30pm. This involves taking the money, ensuring the correct number of children are on at any one time, and watching for safe play.
We need help to find donations of raffle prizes:
Do you go out for lunch or dinner to venues in the surrounding area?
Do you know any companies that would be willing to donate various gifts or services?
Do you feel comfortable about asking for donations?
If you do then we would welcome any donations of prizes or sponsorship that you are able to collect. There is no need to attend fete meetings if you would prefer not to, we just need to be updated on your progress along the way.

Tuesday 9th February 7.30pm.
Tea/coffee and pancakes served in the interval. Small(ish) prize for the winning team. Tickets £4; proceeds to US (formerly USPG)- the oldest of the Missionary Societies.
Could we issue a rallying call to the various groups in our villages to enter a team – e.g.
Twirls, Melody Makers, Evergreens, Augmented Choir, Bubbenhall Breakfast Team? The
more the merrier- competition between teams could be fierce!
