Fête Website Flyer Winner

Fête Flyer WinnerWe hope you all enjoyed the annual Church Fête and Football Competition yesterday. The weather was fantastic which helped to bring a great number of people out to support this annual fund raiser for our church St Leonard’s.
If you are interested in knowing more about why we need to raise funds for the church and what the money raised goes towards, then read through how our church is funded.
Many of you may have received a flyer similar to the one pictured here, promoting the fact that we have a Village Website and offering the chance to win a tub of chocolates. The purpose of this flyer was to raise awareness of the website’s existence as well as the fact we now also on both twitter (@rytonondunsmore) and facebook (facebook.com/rytonondunsmore).

How Can You Help the Website or the Website Help You

If you are involved in any village Clubs or Groups then make sure it is listed on our Clubs and Groups page and that the details are correct. If your Club or Group or meet on a regular basis then check you are mentioned in the Events calendar and that those details are correct. If you have any special events (like fund raisers or AGMs) or simply wish to promote the existance of your Club, Group or Activity then all you need to do is write us an article (it doesn’t have to be long, but it can be) and send it to us using Contact Us and we will publish it. Please include some images if at all possible.
Even better, if you feel you would like to contribute to the content of the website on a more regular basis then we can train you and help you become one of our website Authors. You can take a look at the current Author’s Guide to get an idea of what might be involved in becoming an author.
If you feel something is missing from the website then let us know. If you know about something that should be on the website then let us know…content only gets onto the website if you tell us about it.
We hope you find the website useful and thank you all for your continued support.

Have You Got The Winning Website Flyer?

Website Christmas FlyerIf you were at the Village Hall yesterday (Saturday 29th November) attending the Church Christmas Coffee Morning then I am sure you enjoyed the fantastic event. Hundreds of people were in attendance over the two hours and some of you even paid Santa a visit to discuss your Christmas lists!
You may also have been accosted by myself (Stuart Wells) forcing upon you a flyer (like the one pictured here) promoting the village website? We took the opportunity to raise awareness of the village website by handing out promotional flyers, also providing guided tours of the website and answering any questions or indeed taking any suggestions you might have.
As part of this promotion all the aforementioned flyers were numbered and so you should now find that flyer and check to see if your flyer contains the winning number, selected at random after the event. If you do then a prize of a tub of chocolates awaits you.
Congratulations to the holder of flyer number 117.
If you are the holder of a flyer with the number 117 on it, then Contact Us with your name and contact details so that we can arrange for you to receive your prize of a tub of chocolates. Keep hold of the flyer as we will require this as proof you are the lucky winner.
Whether you are the lucky winner or not, we would like to thank you for taking time to look at the website. We hope you found it interesting and useful and hope you will make a habit of visiting again. If you have any suggestions for improving the website, or wish to provide content (articles or events) for the website then just Contact Us.
A number of village residents are now beginning to add content directly to the website themselves. It is not as hard as you might think. We have written an Author’s Guide to make things as easy as possible, so why not take a look at the guide and consider being one of our authors? If you feel you would like to become a contributing author of content then contact us with your details.
Thank you all once again for attending the Church Christmas Coffee Morning and following up with a visit to the website.
Merry Christmas from the website team.

We Have a Winner

Congratulations to Thomas Matthews, who had the winning flyer (117). Thomas said he was “very very happy to have won”. If you don’t already have the tub of chocolates yet Thomas, we will be dropping them around very soon. Don’t eat them all at once!

Your Village Website

In February 2012 a Parish Plan questionnaire was issued to each household in the village and almost 500 replied. The purpose of the Parish Plan was to allow all villagers to express their thoughts and ideas on how they would like to see our Village develop over the next ten years. The replies were analysed with key findings being included in an Action Plan published in June 2012. A fantastic village celebration event was held in the Connexion to allow villagers to discuss the results and enable them to volunteer for one or more of 8 action groups.
August 2014 Sessions MapThe Village Website Action Group has met monthly and by June 2013 launched the website ryton.pcwpreview.co.uk at the village fete. Website analytic tools show the continued increase in visits to the website from 40 in June 2013 to 400 by August 2014. The number of unique users has also grown from 25 in June 2013 to 325 in August 2014. The website is being searched by users living in America, Australia, Brazil and Sweden!
The website needs fresh content to enable it to be relevant and continue to grow. If you have something to promote, a question to ask, want to learn what is going on in the village or have a view to express you can do so by contacting one of our website authors or becoming one yourself. It is easy: initially you need to register, then write a post, add an event or add a page. This is not difficult as an author’s guide is available detailing in simple steps how to update the website – just Contact Us.
Remember this is your village and your website, let’s make the most of it! Register today and start adding content.

Welcome to 2014

Happy New Year from the Web Team. May it be a be a wonderful year.

All entries will be displayed on the website once the winner is decided as soon after the closing date of Saturday 13th July as possible.

Short Ten Question Quiz

If you are not up to the colouring task then maybe you’d like to flex your web surfing skills and answer our short ten question quiz. All the answers to these questions are within the new website so what better way to get to know your new website than to have a look around and win a £10 Amazon voucher.
The ten questions are:

  1. What is the population of Ryton-on-Dunsmore village?
  2. What year was a new building opened and dedicated for Ryton-on-Dunsmore C of E school on the current school site?
  3. What are the altar rails of the church made from?
  4. What year was Steetley Meadows land kindly donated to Ryton Conservation Trust by Steetley?
  5. Who should you contact for more information on our booking rates and availability of the Village Hall?
  6. When did the Village Website Action Group hold its first meeting?
  7. Who is the Clerk to the Parish Council?
  8. How many trees were planted in the Community Orchard?
  9. What day does the Mums and Tots group meet?
  10. What is the number of the bus from Princethorpe to Leamington Spa?

Once you think you have all the answers either send them via Contact Us page or write them down and deliver them to 75 Holly Drive. Don’t forget to give your contact details on your entry or else we won’t be able to give you the prize.

Providing Feedback

The website is for you, the residents of Ryton-on-Dunsmore and of course it is also a means to promote our village. Please let us know if there is anything you can think of that we have missed, is incorrect, or you would like to see considered for addition to the site. You can provide this in one of three ways:

  1. In writing (or in person) to one of the Village Website Action Group members.
  2. By email via Contact Us page
  3. As a comment to this post (see short help about how to do this)

Things you might think about:

  • Do you like the general structure of the web site?
    • Did you find it easy to find your way around?
    • What about the colour scheme?
    • Do you have content you would like to add to the website?
  • Events:
    • Do you have an event that is not listed?
    • Is your event listed but something is not correct?
    • Maybe we have listed an event that no longer exists?
  • Anything else you would like to say – it’s nice just to hear you like it, don’t be shy!

The website is like an organic entity – it will continue to grow and improve, but to make sure it grows in a way you like please let us know your thoughts.
