Have you ever wanted to make a difference in Ryton?

My name is Steve Witter and I am the current Chairman of your Parish Council here in Ryton. I have lived in the village for 10 years, I work full time and have two sons who both go the village school. Have you ever wanted to make a difference in Ryton? Between now and May we have upcoming positions to become a Parish Councillor, I can promise you that it isn’t a massive time commitment with only 10-12 meetings a year; all on the first Wednesday of the Month 7-9.30 in the Village Hall.
In the last year or so you will hopefully of noticed projects that the Parish Council have been involved with, that include: The start of the pavilion refurbishment, the restoration of the war memorial, the renovation of the Ryton Water Meadow, the creation of the new Parish Burial ground, replacement village notice boards and new fencing on the recreation ground. It sounds a lot of work, although the vast majority of the physical work is completed by contractors or volunteers under the direction of the Parish Council. The only qualification you need to become a Parish Councillor is to be a resident of Ryton. As a Parish Council our mission is to ensure we can represent the views of all villagers and ensure that we operate and maintain a village that we can all be proud of.
Our next meeting is December 5th at 7.00pm in the Village Hall, as for every meeting all villagers are welcome. Why not come along and see what it is all about. If you would prefer to talk to me about becoming a Councillor then please give me a call on 0788 7833 369. On behalf of all of the current members of the Parish Council, we wish you and your family a peaceful and restful Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
