Because of the current Coronavirus restrictions, the monthly draw has had to be suspended.
When the restrictions are lifted there will be a ‘super draw’ when all the outstanding months draws will be drawn on one night.
Notification of the ‘super draw’ date will be circulated when it is know.
Ryton Star FC and Ryton Conservation Trust have both been awarded grants from the County Councillors grant fund.
The Warwickshire County Council Councillors’ Grant Fund is aimed at community and voluntary organisations. It provides each of the 57 Councillors with a pot of £6,000 to support small-scale projects within their division
Cllr. Howard Roberts who previously supported grants for Ryton Stars in 16/17 and 17/18 for football equipment has supported them again this year. A grant has also been given to Ryton Conservation Trust to pay for a replacement finishing mower.

There will be a report from the Parish Council and other organisations from the village. Members of the Village are encouraged to come along and ask questions.

May 15th Trip Duke of Buccleuch’s residence Boughton House is a country house, in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Part of an estate of 11,000 acres, it is one of the seats of the Duke of Buccleuch, and famed for its beauty, its collections, and the fact it has survived virtually unchanged since the 17th century. While possessing a medieval core, its exterior evokes an opulent French chateau, causing it to be termed The English Versailles. Only open to members of the History Group.

Over 70 volunteers and villagers attended this years successful Wassail which took place at the orchard yesterday evening.
Wassailing refers to a traditional ceremony that involves singing and drinking to the health of trees on Twelfth Night in the hope that they might better thrive. The purpose of wassailing is to awaken the apple trees and to scare away evil spirits to ensure a good harvest of fruit in the Autumn.
Local people brought torches and dressed up in top hats, bowler hats or hats decorated with ivy or mistletoe. Children used saucepan lid’s, spoons, rattles, drums, bells, whistles etc to make loud noises in order to help chase the evil spirits out of the orchard.

The next meeting of the Twirls WI on Thursday April 19th at St Leonards Church Hall, Church Road, Ryton at 7.30pm all welcome.
In the last few weeks there have regrettably been a couple of incidents of vandalism in Steetley Meadows, when for example, picnic benches and coppiced timbers have been thrown into the lake and ditches.
Not only does this prevent visitors from using the seats to rest and enjoy the views it disturbs the wildlife and undoes all the hard work of our trustees and volunteers.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy Steetley Meadows but please be mindful that it is primarily a Conservation area (administered by Ryton Conservation Trust) so please treat it with respect.
The Police are aware of this vandalism and they are now making regular visits to the area.
